Responsabilidades:

           Proveer información profesional y servicios de consultoría en agua y saneamiento para los clientes de CAWST, desarrollando su capacidad de implementar los programas para los más necesitados en países en vía de desarrollo.

            Desarrollar estrategias a nivel regional y nacional para los clientes (Gobierno, ONGs internacionales y locales y las Agencias de la ONU) en los países correspondientes.

            Identificar alianzas para poder establecer los Centros de Experticia y Entrenamiento. Trabajar con estos aliados para desarrollar su capacidad como institución para prestar servicios de capacitación y consultoría de apoyo a nivel local.

             Motivar e inspirar acciones entre las organizaciones que trabajan con Agua y Saneamiento para los más necesitados.

            Conducir al desarrollo de negocios para identificar clientes, colaboradores y fundadores potenciales.

            Contribuir con actividades a través de CAWST, incluyendo el desarrollo del Programa de Educación, Aprendizaje de Investigación, Participación Pública y Servicios de Negocios.

            Desarrollar habilidades y conocimientos personales para mantener altos niveles de competencia técnica y profesional.

Calificaciones:

             Profesional en Ingeniería o en alguna disciplina como Ciencias, Educación o Salud.

             Experiencia en relación con las responsabilidades, en particular a nivel internacional.

             Experiencia en desarrollo en Agua y Saneamiento, presentación de servicios de capacitación y consultoría de apoyo y creación de capacidad institucional.

             Bilingüe en Inglés y Español

             Capaz de trabajar a nivel Internacional con base en Calgary, Canadá.

Este cargo es con base en Canadá, con aproximadamente un 50% del tiempo en otros países, con un área de responsabilidad regional o funcional. Generalmente consiste en 3 a 6 viajes al año con una duración de 3 a 8 semanas.

TÉCNICO/A EN DPTO. DE CAPTACIONES
FUNCIONES:
- Trabajo de campo precio a la realización de pozos. Sondeos, toma de muestras, datos,
etc. Trabajo que implica ensuciarse.
- Una vez confirmado la realización del pozo, realizar la dirección de obra del pozo. Se
suele subcontratar a una empresa en concreto pero si es necesario, se tendrá que
buscar ofertas de empresas. Se supervisa de cerca la obra.
- Tomar muestras a medida que avanza la obra, realizar columnas litológicas, es decir,
muestras de la roca que va saliendo en las perforaciones. Recoger muestras para
analíticas de aguas.
- Realizar informes técnicos para la administración pública: Consellería de sanidad,
Confederación Hidrográfica
- Realizar memorias técnicas internas
- Si se presenta un concurso público, se tiene que hacer el presupesto e informe técnico
para el concurso junto al Departamento técnico. Se pide disponibilidad puntual de horario
cuando hay que presentar algo.
- Desplazamientos por toda la provincia de Castellón y ocasionalmente fuera de la
provincia para varios días, de forma puntual. Es posible que incluso al extranjero. Para
desplazamientos, utilizará coche de empresa.
- Control de la calidad de agua en los abastecimientos que gestiona la empresa
- Introducción de datos en programa SINAC.
- Elaboración de planes de análisis para los abastecimientos según normativa vigente.
- Trámites con la autoridad sanitaria
REQUISITOS MÍNIMOS
- Licenciatura en Geología o en Ciencias Ambientales.
- Imprescindible tener cierto rodaje laboral en Geología.
- Carné de conducir B y vehículo propio para desplazarse.
- Ofimática a nivel Usuario.

- Valorable postgrado relacionados con Hidrogeología.
- Valorable experiencia laboral en el puesto y/o en el sector de hidrogeología.

Main responsibilities  Under the authority and supervision of the Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences (ADG/SC), the
incumbent shall be responsible for leading and managing the staff of the Division of Water Sciences (SC/HYD) in order to ensure the smooth planning, management and implementation of the freshwater programmes of UNESCO, as well as serve as Secretary of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) and provide support to the World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP).
The incumbent will specifically: 

• As Director of the Division of Water Sciences (SC/HYD): Provide intellectual, strategic and operational leadership in the planning, coordination, implementation and management of the freshwater programmes of UNESCO, overseeing the implementation of regular programme and extrabudgetary activities. Identify and develop new activities of strategic importance; Design and implement comprehensive plans for strengthening coordination of  all freshwater activities in accordance with the instructions given by the General Conference,  the Executive Board and the Director-General of UNESCO; Provide administrative guidance for the organization and the implementation of activities of the Division; Coordinate freshwater-related activities with UNESCO’s Regional Bureaux for Science and relevant UNESCO’s Cluster Offices, as well as water-related regional centres under the auspices of the Organization; Optimize cooperation between the Division’s programmes, collaboration with other units within the Natural Sciences Sector and the Organization at large, and partnerships with the water-related efforts of other United Nations organizations and relevant external organizations (IGOs/NGOs); Ensure the effective participation of the Division in UN-Water, the United Nations system coordinating mechanism on freshwater issues. 
• As Secretary of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP): Ensure the smooth management and implementation of IHP in accordance with the plans drawn up by the IHP Intergovernmental Council; Coordinate the preparation of strategic plans for IHP, taking into account the expressed needs of Member States, major UN events and objectives, such as the various sessions of the Commission on Sustainable Development, the International Water Decade and the Millennium Development Goals, as well as the preparation for, and follow-up to the decisions of, the IHP Intergovernmental Council.
In addition, the incumbent will also be actively collaborating with:
• The World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP): Provide intellectual leadership and administrative support for the WWAP; Work closely with the Coordinator of WWAP and the relevant units of the Organization, as well as with the authorities of the donor countries; Ensure enabling conditions for the preparation of the flagship output of WWAP as well as timely production, launching and dissemination of the triennial World Water Development Report, including the appropriate coordination with other collaborating United Nations agencies within the framework of UN-Water.

• The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education: Develop enhanced collaborative activities through an active and growing scientific and professional collaboration with UNESCO-IHE Institute and with the
growing network of water-related centres under the auspices of the Organization for the benefit of the Member States and the international freshwater community at large. Qualifications and experience
ƒ PhD, Doctorate or equivalent degree in hydrology or water resources engineering/management. Studies
in the field of water related environmental and/or economic assessment would be an asset.
ƒ At least ten to fifteen years’ experience of working in organizations for international technical cooperation in the application of hydrology and water resources planning to development, and for international
scientific cooperation, in water policy and strategy formulation and project management in a research or development projects, particularly with international water resources programmes and NGOs, preferably
in several regions of the world, including developing countries.
ƒ At least eight years’ broad experience in practical work involving water resources development projects, research, teaching and technical administration in hydrology or one of the water sciences. Experience
within government in the water sector would be an asset.
ƒ Recognized international scientific standing in the field of hydrology and water resources management, including major publications and teaching experience at the level of a university professor.
ƒ Relevant and recognized working experience at the international level preferably in the United Nations system would be an asset. Substantive experience in Headquarters of these organizations and in the Field is desirable.
ƒ Substantial experience (four years or more) in  managing international/intergovernmental/technical cooperation programmes.
ƒ Strong links with extensive international networks  of professionals and scientists and the relevant associations in the field of freshwater;
ƒ Working knowledge with excellent drafting skills in one of the working languages (English or French). A good knowledge of the second one is strongly desirable. Language training will be mandatory in order to acquire the required level of the second working language in a reasonable timeframe.  
ƒ Knowledge of other United Nations languages would be an asset.

Conditions of employment
The post is at grade D-1 common to the United Nations system, with a salary composed of base salary and post adjustment, which, at the present dollar exchange rate, totals approximately US $176,661 (with
dependants) or US $163,292 (without dependants) per annum, exempt from taxation. In addition, UNESCO offers an attractive benefits package, including 30 days annual vacation, home travel, education grant for dependent children, pension plan and medical insurance. POST DOC POSITION: CEPAS - Groundwater Research Center Institute of Geosciences University of Sao Paulo (BRAZIL)

PROJECT:

Salinization and pollutant sources tracing in the Recife Metropolitan Region Aquifers

Within the framework of a French-Brazilian scientific collaboration supported by the national research agency (ANR), the FACEPE and FAPESP in Brazil, the COQUEIRAL project aims at identifying the salinization sources and processes in the Recife Metropolitan Region (RMR) aquifer systems and to identify inorganic pollution sources, both under global environmental change and societal constraints. Results will be gathered in a 3D numerical hydrogeological model that will also be used as a predicting tool running with future climatic scenarios and societal evolution scenarios.

This work is based on water sampling (spatially and vertically distributed) and analyses including major elements, trace elements, Rare Earth Elements, selected isotopic tools for the targeted objectives (stables isotopes of the water molecule, strontium, lead, boron, sulphates), and dissolved gases analyses (CFC and SF6) to assess water residence time within the aquifer system.

The post doc will be in charge of the sampling campaigns in collaboration with all partners. He (she) will manage data processing and interpretation. He (she) will have to determine the aquifer functioning characterization, the pollutant sources and process related to the water transfer mechanisms and water residence time.

The postdoc will be also responsible for synthesizing all the constraints introduced by the chemical and isotopic approaches to be used to build the conceptual model of the aquifer system functioning and the 3D numerical hydrogeological model.

The post doc should have skills in groundwater hydrogeochemistry and isotopic tools (stable and radiogenic).

The contract is a 24 month post-doc position at CEPAS (Groundwater Research Center), Institute of Geosciences, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, with activities in Recife and France. It may begin in March 2012 (or earlier).

Location: University of Sao Paulo (USP) at the Institute of Geosciences (IGc). The IGc currently has 70 teachers and over 200 researchers and post graduate students working in environment, water resources, mineral resources, stratigraphy, geochronology, paleontology, petrography, mineralogy and new materials. The IGc includes the LIE (Environmental Isotope Laboratory) and CEPAS and its laboratories.

The post should share his time between USP (main affectation), University of Pernambuco, BRGM and Geosciences Rennes laboratory in France.

RESUMEN
Dada la intensa presión antrópica que afecta a numerosos acuíferos en España, el estudio de la atenuación natural o inducida de origen agrícola o industrial permite la oportunidad de mejorar y recuperar su calidad ambiental en beneficio del abastecimiento humano y de la preservación ecológica. Sin embargo, la identificación de los procesos de atenuación implica una compleja relación entre parámetros ambientales y procesos geoquímicos. La investigación a nivel de laboratorio, de ensayo de campo, o a nivel regional proporciona los conocimientos científicos y la experiencia profesional necesaria para asesorar la posibilidad e realizar acciones de remediación y aportar criterios para la gestión de los recursos hídricos.
Los objetivos de este proyecto se refieren tanto a la caracterización de los procesos de atenuación natural como al desarrollo de experimentos de atenuación nducida de la polución agrícola e industrial a nivel de campo, fundamentados en los resultados de proyectos previos.
El subproyecto de la UB centrará en: A) Desarrollar experimentos de desnitrificación inducida a escala de laboratorio y de campo basados en reacciones heterotróficas y autotróficas. B) Determinar los factores de fraccionamiento isotópico en los procesos de remediación química en aguas contaminadas por DNAPLs con el fin de utilizarlo para calcular la eficiencia en las acciones de remediación sobre el terreno. C) Desarrollar una nueva metodología en los laboratorios de la UB para determinar la composición isotópica de otros compuestos orgánicos, los PAHs.
El subproyecto de la UPC centrará sus esfuerzos en dos objetivos: El estudio del papel que juega la materia orgánica presente en residuos vegetales degradados en los procesos de desnitrificación como mecanismo de atenuación de nitratos. También se establecerá la presencia de reacciones secundarias de los fertilizantes nitrogenados tales como la reducción disimilatoria del nitrato a amonio (DNRA), la desnitrificación parcial del nitrato o la nitrificación parcial del amonio. B) El estudio de la atenuación del impacto de los metales en suelos agrícolas debido a su fertilización con fosfatos.
Las investigaciones previas realizadas por el equipo investigador se han centrado en el análisis de los procesos de atenuación del NO3- que se producen en un nivel cretácico con materia orgánica (ARMO). El nivel ARMO puede jugar un papel en la reducción del NO3- en el sistema, ya que debe funcionar como una barrera reactiva natural. El objetivo es identificar con detalle todos los procesos de desnitrificación natural tanto convencional como otros alternativos como la reducción disimilatoria de NO3- a NH4+ (DNRA) y la oxidación anaerobia del NH4+ con NO2- (ANAMMOX).
